According to the Newark Advocate, High Lands Golf Club will be closing on August 5th.

David Steckel, of Kassel Equity Group, LLC, informed members of the closure. No membership dues for members of the private club that opened in 1957 will be collected after Wednesday. The pool will be immediately closed and access to the cart barn will remain open till August 31st, available by an appointment.

Kassel Equity bought the course in 2014 and did renovations both to the course and to the clubhouse in the two years that followed.

Steckel wrote it was the club’s desire to make the decision now to give members an opportunity to look for a new club for the 2020 season.

”I want to express my gratitude for your ongoing support, not only for the time that I have been here, but for the countless years that most of you have been a part of the High Lands Golf Club family,” wrote Steckel, the club’s interim general manager in a letter.

Although the High Lands was a private club, it continues a string of closings to golf facilities in Central Ohio, such as Oakhurst CC, Winding Hollow, Shamrock, Riviera, Tree Links, Ables Golf on Avery, and the pending closure of Blackhawk Golf Club. A few more could be closed as soon as this season.
