During the practice round for the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate, Carsten Judge, a Wellington School graduate, made a hole-in-one on the 349-yard par-4 14th hole. Somehow, his week got even better.
Competing as an individual for the Georgetown Hoyas, Judge finished with the top spot on the leaderboard, posting an 8-under score across the 54 holes. The junior fired off 15 birdies and an eagle on the week and recorded a career-best round of 65. Judge becomes the first individual winner for the Georgetown men’s golf program since Patrick DiPasquale at the Wildcat Fall Invitational in September of 2018.
“I am thrilled to finish as co-medalist this week. This would not have been possible without the support of my parents, Coach Hunter and my teammates. Looking forward to carrying this momentum into the second half of our season,” Judge said about the performance.
Judge fired off rounds of 71, 65 and 69, finishing 8-under par (205). Judge matched his career-best round of 65, a feat he first achieved as a freshman in 2022 at the VCU Shootout, where he set the Georgetown school record for the lowest round by a freshman at the par 72, 6,927-yard Tuckahoe Creek Course at the Country Club of Virginia.
Georgetown head coach had this to say about Carsten’s win. “I am very proud…Winning at the intercollegiate level is very difficult – obviously you have to play solid golf, yet course management, patience, and true grit are necessary and Carsten checked all the boxes. We are all happy for him!”
